During my sophomore year, I participated in the first ever Lanier Hackathon, where students of Lanier High School can compete to put together the best game or application idea in three days. Our idea was a 2D fighting game. The event was sponsored by State Farm, so the name "Khakis" came naturally. This taught me a lot about animation, local multiplayer, and working with other people in order to get the assets that you need. For example, everything other than the castle background was sourced by my group. It also taught me about optimizing workflow to get work done quickly, as we only had one weekend. Unfortunately, it doesn't show up in pictures, but the fighters had their own idle and attack animations.
