In order to keep my skills sharp between projects, I completed the Survival Shooter on Unity's website. It taught me a few things, but the biggest thing I learned was how to use the animation window to smoothly and effectively change values during runtime. This tutorial used this window to change the UI when players die. For example, it shrinks the score text, fades in the blue background, and scales up the "you died" text from 0 to 120, then back to 100, making the text appear as if it's jumping at the player.
